Rinjani is the highest mountain on Lombok and , outside Irian Jaya, about the highest in Indonesia. At 3726 meters it soars above the island and dominates the landscape, but by mid -morning on most days the summit is schrouded in cloud. The mountain is actually an active volcano-its last eruption was in 1901. there is a huge crater containing a large green crescent-shaped lake, segara anak, which is about six km across at its widest point. There is series of natural hot springs on on the north-eastern side of the caldera. These springs, known as Kokok Putih, are said to have remarkable healing power. The lake is 600 vertical meters below the caldera rim, and in the middle of its curve there is new cone, Gunung Baru (also known as Gunung Barujari).
Rinjani National Park
Mt. Rinjani forms the second highest volcanic peak in Indonesia, one of tourist destination in Lombok and also part of celebrated” Ring of Fire”. Senaru is best known attraction is the Sendang Gila waterfall which attracts many thousands of Indonesian and foreign visitors annually. Located at about 600 meter above sea level, the waterfall is an easy 20 minute walk down a graded trail and steps from Senaru village. A pleasant alternative return route wind along the edge of the steep valley, following the immigration canal. Trek up from Sendang Gila waterfall you will find the second waterfall” Tiu Kelep waterfall”.
